'Twas downright balmy today, in this neck of the woods. Shirt-sleeve and open-car-window weather, how I've missed you. (Sheesh, I've still got my home-office-windows open at 1 a.m. in January. And I'm still hot. Perhaps I should be worried, either for my health or for the planet. But then, I find that most worrying ceases by 1 a.m.ish., if the stuff I do ever rises to the level of "worrying." It's closer to "observation" -- as in, "huh, it's warm" or "interesting, I seem to be being devoured alive by giant wombats; how strange.")
I have never actually been devoured alive by giant wombats. Just a clarification.
* My thoughts go with those of you on the West Coast who are still digging out from this weekend's precipative onslaught. *
Had some errands in the Victor/Pittsford area this afternoon, so I made a rare visit to Eastview Mall and had my first experience of the wonder that is Maggie Moo's. I'm usually not a fan of soft ice cream, but this cone -- I had the yellow marshmallow, a shade of yellow that I don't think ever has occurred or could occur naturally -- was mighty, mighty good.
Nothing much of substance for the posting tonight. I wish I could join those of you planning to attend GAFilk this weekend, but it's not in the cards this year. (And the GOHs are Jeff and Maya Bonhoff, whom I've never seen, sigh.) I'm determined to get there either in 2009 or 2010, as I'm informed it's a particularly lovely con even by filkcon standards. Since the bulk of my extended family live in the greater Jacksonville, Fla. area, and since my mother isn't getting younger (belated happy birthday to her back on Jan. 3 -- same day as the esteemed Professor), I'm toying with planning a family vacation and working it around GAFilk, letting Mom spend that weekend with my sister and nephew. If it's 2009, that might run into some logistical issues with my vacation days, since I'm tentatively planning to attend Worldcon that summer and have a few other weekends throughout the year I need off (the curse of a weekend editor) and I only get three weeks; the policy of carrying over vacation days went out with the company's previous owner (but then, the new owner let us cash in the unused time, so I can't really complain). We shall see. The tyrannosauraus in the room is, of course, finances.
At any rate, enjoy, all.
