At the tail end of a long workday Saturday made longer by technical snafus, unanticipated extra-duties and such like (how long? Got out at 3 a.m. ... that's 3 after setting the clock back, not before), had one of my very rare but briefly intense bouts of angstifying about my life in general, in all realms: spiritual, social, physical, financial, professional and so forth, and how far afield I am from where I'd like to be. It passed, of course. These bouts tend to diminish and wane when I ponder/meditate/reflect on the grace and love of God revealed in Christ. And as I stop indulging the angstifying and resume actively making my life what I want it to be. So maybe such bouts are worthwhile in that they lead me to recalibrate my perspective. They're also useful in reminding myself that I'm not really half the unflappable, unemotional neoVulcan I sometimes present myself as here, to others and sometimes to myself. (Plus, I realize that these not-quite-panic-attacks tend to be at least in part a product of stress and fatigue.)

Posting this so I'll have a record of it for my own purposes. Giving some words of wisdom to Future Dave, if you will. The best words of wisdom: "This too shall pass."

Anyway, today was a good day. Got a halfway decent night's sleep -- even getting out at 3, that's still sooner than many a Saturday night -- went to church where the message dealt with faith and love as a response to grace and love; spent some time with my mother, having dinner and doing a bit of shopping. (Rochester's lovely Bop Shop hosted its semiannual record show/sale: Among the more amusing of my deep-discount finds was Stairways to Heaven, one of the Best Novelty Records Ever -- covers of Led Zep's "Stairway" by tribute bands to performers other than Zep. So you get the song in the style of, among others, the Doors, the early Beatles, some random swing/crooner of the Tony Bennett/Bobby Darin variety, and, heh, the B-52s. Much fun.)

Nothing much else to report. I like avocadoes.

Sounds & Images: "Dragonfly" (The Thorns)
State O'Mind: Much better now, thanks

Happy belated birthday to [livejournal.com profile] adr0ck!

In addition to being a wise and kind person in her own right, she's the mom of three of the cutest kids in the Milky Way Galaxy.
