Had my mother over tonight to watch the fireworks over Canandaigua Lake from my apartment building's front porch -- among the finer vantage points in Canandaigua, now that I'm living at the top of the hill rather than the bottom. A fine night, were it not for the swarms and hordes of carnivorous flying vermin.
I'm certain that mosquitoes play some vital role in the circle of life, that they present some irreplaceable link in the food chain, that they owe their proliferation to the wisdom of Providence and/or the vicissitudes of natural selection. That they are important, yea, essential to life itself.
I still, however, disapprove.
