WHAT'S SLAW?
Jul. 2nd, 2005 12:13 pmIt's been said (I forget by whom) that the true test of a person's character is how he or she treats waiters/waitresses, domestic help, and so forth. I've always tried to take that to heart, to understand that people are very busy, and to not expect myself to immediately become the center of their world. I try to tip generously and speak with courtesy.
But sometimes, some folks make it difficult.
Case in point: After a long, long day at work yesterday, I swing by my mother's place with the mail and the newspaper. We're both in a comfort-food kind of mood, so I decide to call a local diner we both enjoy for seafood-platter takeout.
( Frustrated hilarity ensues HERE. )
