BLOG DAY AFTERNOON
Sep. 7th, 2008 12:08 amJust thought I'd mention that my friend Matt -- whom some of you (
wormquartet,
erinwrites and
unkbar) may or may not remember from Worm Quartet/Ookla shows in Rochester that I dragged him out to -- has joined the ranks of Blogdom. He's not a frequent post-er -- a job search along with becoming acclimated to new surroundings precludes much of that -- but the blog contains some of his photography and links to more, and he has a definite talent in that direction, an excellent eye for composition, with some of the more evocative landscapes I've seen. He can be found HERE.
Heh -- a lot of my friends from The Company moved elsewhere (or, in the case of the esteemed Grady, retired) and started blogs -- and every one of them used Blogger rather than LJ. (Though Marcy does have an LJ under the handle
hazmatplaytime solely to comment on mine.)
Nothing much new around these parts. Had a phone interview with Emily Saliers from The Indigo Girls this morning, and have mostly puttered today. Last night, let some friends and colleagues talk me into a meal at Aladdin's, a Middle-Eastern eatery on Rochester's Monroe Avenue, which was mighty tasty. (The menu seemed more Greek to me, aside from all the hummus, but I understand there's a lot of overlap.) Failed to restrain myself from diving into the "What is filk/a filker/the filk community/the Pegasus pool" discussion over on
mrgoodwraith's LJ; some fruitful discussion was had and movements made toward building some bridges between some disparate groups. (Though in one case, the ill feelings appear to have gone beyond alleviation by logical argumentation, which is a shame, because it's someone whose work I admire. Can't win 'em all. Besides, I probably posted too much and too often.)
It's pledge week, so the local PBS affiliate tonight broadcast a 1978 Who concert (Keith Moon's second-to-last one, if I remember correctly) and, currently, a Springsteen-with-the-Sessions-Band live-in-Dublin show with takes on a lot of trad material. Good, good stuff.)

Sounds & Images: See above. Though currently, it's the WXXI pledge appeal.
