I LIVE

Hello, all. Just a quick post to confirm that, yup, I'm still alive and generally well, despite not posting for nearly two weeks. I've been attempting to get caught up at The Company from taking two Fridays off recently for Confluence and Timberwind -- there's some strange calculus at work in which if I take one day off, I end up two days behind; if I take two days, I end up five days behind; if I take a week, I end up a month and a half behind, etc. (If I took three weeks, I'd probably be 20 years behind.) I'm trying to not only get caught up but a bit ahead -- my predecessor managed to work about three weeks ahead on a routine basis, whereas I've been rushin' and scrapin' each week since I took on the A&E job to get that week's material together. However, I should remember that she had been doing the job for more than a dozen years; whereas I've been doing it for only around 16 weeks now. At any rate, I think I've finally managed to get around a half a day or so ahead, which is, heh, a start.

There will be a Confluence post at some point, I insists. Heh, [livejournal.com profile] mrgoodwraith hasn't done his yet, and he ran things and all, so I don't feel bad. As for Timberwind (the yearly gathering of college friends at a cabin deep in the central-Pa. woods), not too much to tell. As usual, a refreshing, relaxing and renewing weekend of good conversation, swimming, grillin', various games with my friends' many, many kids (my knee is just about recovered from a fall I took playing capture-the-flag with the kids -- at one point, it swelled up to the point where it appeared I had a mango on my knee; there's an "Oh Susanna" filk in there somewhere, but I'm not going to write it), and games of Carcassonne after the kids had gone to bed. And somewhere in there I had time to read Frederick Buechner's The Sacred Journey in its entirety. A good weekend.

*Yawn.* Back to work. But first things first: Many, many congratulations, best of wishes and assorted yays to [livejournal.com profile] slyfoot and [livejournal.com profile] swampfaye -- may your years together be long, fulfilling and happy. (That's two friends-list marriages in a month's time, woo.)
