GREATEST HITS OF ME
Jan. 4th, 2007 11:52 pm*Whew.* It's been a busy few days -- rather than my usual evening shift, I've been working mornings on the page-output desk, followed by afternoon/early-evening advance-page deadlines. And trying to get a jump on the year, which has so far been only partly successful. But I have been able to break away for dinner with some friends (tenderloin gorgonzola pizza! since when is bar food this classy?) and start Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys, and tomorrow I'm taking my mother out for an 80th-birthday dinner. Her birthday actually was yesterday, one she shares with the Beloved Professor, J.R.R. Tolkien. (She's younger'n him, though.) A toast to both.
Wishing I could join many of you at GAFilk this weekend. Have much fun, make much music, hug in quality and quantity.
I was going to make a ponderous New Year's post -- you know how it goes, reflections on the previous year and plans for the current one -- but y'know, let's just move on. Last year was a bit of a holding pattern, but I was able to identity areas I need to work on. It also contained some challenges (such as our current corporate-ownership transition at my job) and many enjoyable experiences, including times spent with many of you. And I wrote one song of which I'm proud, "Casa Blanca." There have been worse years.
So, in lieu of ponderousness, I looked over my 2006 posts and flagged a few notable utterances (sheesh) of the past year. A few of 'em are Serious Reflections of Sorts; most of 'em are silly bits. So here be ( The Land of Ledley's Greatest Hits. )
